If you didn’t know, Halloween is right around the corner, which means that our streets will be lined with trick-or-treaters. As we drive our vehicles, we must all be aware of this fact and yield to pedestrians; according to the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), Halloween ranks as one of the top three days in which pedestrians are injured, or killed by motorists.

It’s not uncommon for excited children to run across the street without looking both ways, so as motorists, we should be on high alert while driving through our neighborhoods. Here are some tips to help keep trick-or-treaters safe this Halloween:
?
· Avoid speeding, especially in residential areas.
· Be aware of children entering the roadway.
· Turn your headlights on when it gets dark.
· Check your rearview mirror when backing out of your driveway.

Let’s face it, Halloween is an exciting day for children and parents, so let’s all do our part to keep everyone safe as they go door to door trick-or-treating.
