Having a flat tire is never a fun situation, but if you know how to change one, you'll be ready when it happens. You'll also know how to do it safely so that you can get your vehicle to a service station as soon as possible.
There are several steps to changing a tire. First, find flat, hard ground that is away from traffic and place an obstacle, such as a heavy rock, behind the wheel of the opposite side that you are raising so that your vehicle doesn't roll. Next, remove the hub cap and loosen the lug nuts. Then raise your vehicle with the jack, and finish removing the lug nuts, wheel, and flat tire. Put the spare tire on and secure it with the lug nuts. Finally, lower your vehicle back to the ground.
